How to Mold Synthetic Soccer Boots

Playing soccer takes a toll on a player's feet, in the form of blisters, bruises and soreness. If you are wearing synthetic boots that are not well-molded to your feet, this can cause added pain during and after games or training sessions. To achieve comfort for your feet, it is important to mold your shoes to the shape of your feet, making the shoes softer and more comfortable. Molding your shoes can take several weeks, but you can get started as soon as you purchase a pair of synthetic boots.

Instructions

Wear your synthetic soccer boots as often as possible before using them in training sessions or games. Simply walking in the shoes will help them to begin forming to the shapes of your feet, ensuring a snug fit. Whenever you wear your boots, wear your soccer socks (or any other thick socks) as well -- this will recreate the fit you typically experience when playing soccer. If your boots have detachable cleats, you can even wear the shoes around the house.

Submerge your boots, while wearing them, in a tub of lukewarm water. After 15 minutes, remove your shoes from the water and walk or run in them until they dry completely -- this will allow them to mold to your feet. After the boots dry, take them off and fill them with rags or paper towels, which will keep them from losing the shapes of your feet. As an alternative to submerging your boots in a tub of water, you can also wear them while taking a shower.

Wear your boots in training sessions only after you start to feel comfortable wearing them in non-soccer settings. Keep in mind that the new boots may still cause some blisters the first time that you train in them, but they will mold completely to your feet after wearing them several times in soccer settings. After taking your boots off after a game or training, make sure to clean them of any dirt or mud, as this will help the boots last longer.
