Samford University Defensive Clinic

Samford University, in Birmingham, in the north central part of the state, offers camps and clinics throughout the year. The university has two clinics in late January, with one offering special training for catchers and infield players. This is a one-day event open to all ages. The other clinic is a team session limited to high-school-age players. Samford also hosts a mini-camp in December for prospective students. The team clinic is $100. The defensive clinic is $75.
The New England Catching Camp

The New England Catching Camp is based in Salem, New Hampshire, in the southeastern corner of the state. It is a short drive from Boston and offers dedicated catcher training for baseball and softball players. Several of their softball alumni have gone on to play at the college level. This organization offers camps and clinics year round, with a girls-only softball workout held in late December. Summer camps are three-day camps and cost $225. The winter workout is three days and costs $175.
University of Michigan Softball Catching Camp

The University of Michigan, located in Ann Arbor, hosts a specialized catching camp each summer called "Beyond the Basics" for kids who are at least age 10 and are still in high school. Michigan also offers dedicated camps for pitching and advanced hitting skills. Instruction takes place at the Oosterbaan Fieldhouse on the campus of UM, and sessions are taught by UM coaches and players. The University of Michigan also hosts the annual Michigan Women's Softball Academy to benefit cancer research.

The University of Alabama, Auburn University and the University of Alabama in Birmingham all offer these summer camps for softball players.
