How to Swim With Nose Plugs
Swimming with a nose clip (sometimes called plugs) can help you focus on your technique while avoiding the unpleasant feeling of water coming up your nose. Some swimmers wear a nose clip because they have allergies to chlorine and other chemicals found in pool water, and others use a nose plug because it helps them regulate their breathing in the water. While a nose clip can be beneficial in helping a swimmer to avoid water in the nasal cavity, it is important to place the clip on correctly to avoid other swimming or breathing problems.

1
Place the nose clip over your nose. Arrange the padded pieces on either side of your nostrils, putting the horizontal plastic or metal piece across the bridge of your nose. Make sure the clip is secure.
-
2
Dunk you head underwater briefly to test the fit of your nose plug. Neither water or air should pass through your nostrils.

Start swimming while you wear the clip. Expel air out through your mouth in a steady stream while your head is underwater. Bring your mouth above the surface of the water and breath in as you continue swimming. Place your head back underneath the water, blowing out air again through your mouth as you complete another stroke.
