How to Fit Swim Goggles

Swim goggles provide a way to protect your eyes and improve your vision underwater. For your goggles to work properly, you need to make sure they're properly fitted. Tight goggles are uncomfortable, while loose goggles are sure to leak. Goggles come in a many different styles, sizes and colors, and most have adjustable straps and nose pieces to ensure a perfect fit.       Adjust the strap so that the distance around it is about the same size as your head. All goggles are secured by a strap that fits around the back of your head.

      Try on the goggles. Readjust the goggles and try them on until the strap feels comfortable around the back of your head.

      Adjust the nose piece, if it's movable, if your goggles are digging into your nose or are too wide to properly protect your eyes. Try the goggles on again to make sure they form a comfortable seal around each eye socket. Readjust as necessary.

      Test the suction to make sure your goggles are water tight. Put your goggles on and press gently but firmly on the lenses before dunking your head underwater. If the goggles leak, repeat this step. If the goggles continue to leak, readjust the nose piece or the the head strap.
