How to Prevent Calluses on Hands From a Tennis Racket
After playing a long match of tennis, you may notice the development of calluses on your hands. These usually only appear on the thumb of your swinging hand, though if you are an advanced player and taking many hard shots, the insides of your fingers may become tender as well. Your other hand may also become callused if you use both hands for some shots. Preventing these injuries is important to avoid a painful match next time you play.
Things You'll Need
- Adhesive tape

1
Tie adhesive tape around the base of your swinging hand's thumb, past the middle knuckle, before you begin your match. Ensure it is thick so that it won't wear away when you are playing.
-
2
Wrap the tape around the center of each finger on your swinging hand. Ensure it is thick and wide.
-
3
Tie tape around the inside of your thumb on your other hand, just as you did with the swinging hand in Step 1. This could be necessary if you execute many two-handed backhands.
