How to Keep Tri-Tops From Riding Up
Tri tops are the top part of a two-piece triathlon outfit sometimes worn by male and female athletes with tri shorts or other sports clothing in triathlon swimming, biking and running events and other competitions. Athletes also wear tri tops when training or exercising outside of these events as the clothing helps an athlete to stay cool and dry. During a competition, a tri top can ride up and interfere with an athlete's performance. To keep a tri top from riding up, you need to focus on the areas that cause the problem, specifically the fit and bottom hem, when selecting triathlon gear.

1
Wear the tri top before purchasing. When trying on the tri top, test the fit and wear by jogging in place in the fitting room and stretching.
-
2
Look for tri tops that have a silicone "gripper" near the hem. A silicone gripper, usually in the form of silicone bands or beading, grabs onto you to prevent the top from riding up.
-
3
Purchase a slightly longer tri top. A shorter tri top will reveal the belly if too short and can ride up if the top doesn't have a silicone gripper.
-
4
Swap an old tri top with a new one as soon as it begins to stretch out at the waist or bottom hem. Stretched areas change the way in which the top fits and can allow it to ride up.
