How to Throw a Scoober in Ultimate Frisbee

In Ultimate Frisbee, a player has ten seconds to throw the disc after they receive it or they face a turnover due to delay of the match. The defending players will often cover you closely and attempt to cut off all of your throwing options until the stall count has run out. The scoober is a throw that can be utilized to get rid of the disk when your normal backhand and forehand are not in a position to complete a pass.

Instructions

    • 1

Grip the frisbee with the same grip you would use to throw a forehand or hammer throw. Place your pointer finger and middle finger along the inner rim of the disc, and the thumb on the top of the disk.

    • 2

Step across your pivot foot so that your back is facing your defender. Your pivot foot should be the foot opposite your throwing arm.

    • 3

Reach your arm across your body with your palm face down, so that the frisbee is upside down.

Whip your arm back across your body and snap your wrist, imparting power into the frisbee with the fingers placed on its inner rim. Keep your palm face down so that the disc releases upside down. When you release the disc, your arm will end up extended almost straight out to your side.
