Cheerleading Camps in Ohio

Cheerleading is a popular activity in most high schools. Wherever you can find a high school football team, you can usually find a cheer squad that goes with them. Additionally, cheerleading has become a competitive sport in its own right. One response to the interest in cheering has been the development of cheerleading camps, designed to let cheerleaders participate in the activity they love while honing their skills. If you are looking for a cheerleading camp in Ohio, you have a few options.
  1. COA Camp

    • COA camps run in a variety of different formats, and provide cheerleaders with a curriculum that addresses all of the fundamental skills of cheering. They have league camps, school-hosted camps and resident camps at the Ohio State University. Private camps can also be arranged by schools that want to take their cheerleading squad to the next level. At these camps, you can learn traditional cheering, recreational cheerleading, nonmount cheerleading for those who don't want to attempt stunts, as well as the skills needed for performing flashy stunts and tumbling. Cost is based on the number of athletes attending a given camp and the length of the camp. The curriculum provides private coaching sessions, evaluations and team-building exercises.

    AmeriCheer

    • AmeriCheer hosts cheerleading camps in Ohio in more than one format. There are overnight resident-style camps available, but there are also day camps available for cheerleaders who only have time for a brief but intensive training session. Overnight camps are held throughout the summer. Camps are held at the University of Akron and at Bowling Green State University. The curriculum highlights the most important areas of cheerleading, such as game-day focused cheers and sideline work. They provide skills improvement classes and dances that are suitable for everyone, ranging from the beginner to the advanced cheerleader.

    Cheer Ohio

    • The Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) hosts the Cheer Ohio cheerleading camps every summer, and has been doing so for more than 30 years. OASSA sets its camps apart by making sure all of its instructors have actual college cheerleading experience. This includes a camp director who is the head spirit director at Ohio State University. This brings a higher level of experience and coaching talent to the table. Camps are held in Granville, Ohio, at Dennison University.
