How to Decorate Cheerleader Pillow Cases

Before the next big game, give the members of your team pillowcases decorated with your team's mascot and an encouraging slogan. With the pillowcases include the directive, "Sleep on this for good luck." Decorated pillowcases are a great way to show school spirit. Also, the activity of decorating the pillowcases is a great team-building activity for your squad.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with word processing software
  • Printer
  • Iron-on Transfers
  • Iron
  • Plain white pillowcase

      A simple printer can help you encourage your team.

      Using the word processing program, make a design that will appear on all of the pillowcases. Make sure to change your print settings to "mirror image" prior to printing the design on a transfer sheet.

      Set your iron on the highest cotton setting. Do not use a steam setting. Iron the pillowcase to remove moisture and wrinkles from the fabric. Make sure all wrinkles are removed from both sides of the pillowcase.

      Place the transfer face down on the pillowcase. Iron the transfer for 1 1/2 to 3 minutes, depending on the size of your design. Allow the fabric to cool for at least 2 minutes prior to removing the paper backing.

      Use the fabric markers to personalize each pillowcase. Along the hem of the pillowcase, write each player's name and jersey number. Heat treat the names and numbers by ironing the area on the reverse side.
