Hockey Camps in Ohio

Young hockey players in Ohio do not have to go to hockey hotbeds in Minnesota, Massachusetts or Canada to work on their game. There are several camps in Ohio that specialize in hockey and offer individual attention both on the ice and in the classroom. Special attention is paid to power skating.
  1. Switaj Hockey School

    • The Switaj Hockey School in Lakewood, Ohio, focuses primarily on the power skating aspect of the game. To become better at skating, Switaj students focus on balance and conditioning. In addition to the skating aspect of the game, Switaj teaches the fundamentals of shooting, passing and stick handling. Students get three hours of ice time every day and classroom time with teachers.

    Ohio State Hockey Camp

    • Ohio State University offers three separate sessions for young hockey players on the campus of the Buckeyes. The camp is run by the Ohio State athletic department and coaches administer the program, which focuses on skating, team play, stick handling, shooting, and passing. Goaltenders also get special attention at the Ohio State camp. Campers get at least three hours of ice time every day as well as classroom extension.

    Miami University Hockey Camp

    • This comprehensive camp gives the young hockey player a maximum dose of ice time and instruction. Each camper is on the ice for four sessions per day. During those sessions, the players receive instruction on skating, stick handling, passing, shooting, and checking. Players get to play in one controlled scrimmage every day. Goaltenders get individualized attention.
