How to Sing University of Texas Fight Songs

Fans of the University of Texas Longhorns usually sing "Texas Fight" to cheer their football team to victory. However, the school also recognizes several other fight songs that fans can learn to sing.

Instructions

    • 1

Learn the first verse of "Texas Fight," which goes: "Texas fight, Texas fight, and it's goodbye to A&M! Texas fight, Texas fight, and we'll put over one more win. Texas fight, Texas fight, for it's Texas that we love best. Hail, hail, the gang's all here, and it's good-bye to all the rest!"

    • 2

Sing the chorus of "Texas Fight," which is: "Yea orange! Yea white! Yea Longhorns! Fight! Fight! Fight! Texas fight! Texas fight, yea Texas fight! Texas fight! Texas fight, yea Texas fight!"

    • 3

Follow the chorus with the second verse: "The eyes of Texas are upon you, all the livelong day. The eyes of Texas are upon you, you cannot get away. Texas fight, Texas fight, for it's Texas that we love best. Hail, hail, the gang's all here, and it's good-bye to all the rest!"

Learn the words to "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You." The song goes: "The eyes of Texas are upon you, all the live long day. The eyes of Texas are upon you, you cannot get away. Do not think you can escape them, at night or early in the morn'. The eyes of Texas are upon you 'till Gabriel blows his horn!"

Sing "The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You" to the tune of the familiar song "I've Been Workin' on the Railroad."

    • 6

Make printed copies of each song's lyrics. Follow along with the words as you play an audio clip of the song, noting the rhythm and tempo at which the song is performed. It will be easier if you can find a studio recording of the song(s) you wish to learn as played by the school's band. With 100,000 football fans singing along, audio clips recorded at live events are sometimes not the clearest.

Download the songs, or just listen to streamed audio clips using your computer's audio playback software. Using your lyrics printout, refer back to the words of the song as each song plays, following along. Once you are comfortable with the lyrics as sung to the music, try to sing along yourself without looking at the lyrics sheet.
