Skit Ideas for Homecoming Week
-
Give out Roles
-
Ask the cheerleaders to lead cheers for the crowd and assign a role to each area of the crowd. If the kids sit according to class, then give each class a separate word to shout or action to perform. For example, have one class stand up at a certain part of the skit, another class waves their hands and another class claps their hands. As the cheerleaders perform the skit and cheer for the crowd, the audience gets involved.
Mock Homecoming Queen Contest
-
Stage a mock Homecoming Queen contest, with players from different athletic teams participating. Make sashes for each player, giving the guys funny names like "Candy Cane." Host different events during the homecoming skit, including a talent competition and an interview segment. Dress the participants in ugly dresses, frazzled wigs and bad makeup. Let students watching the skit pick the winner of the contest by applauding for their favorite contestant at the end.
Fairy Tales
-
Turn an old-fashioned fairy tale into a skit for homecoming week. Update the classic tale to reflect homecoming events, the opposing team and the star player from your team. For example, in Little Red Riding Hood, turn the Big Bad Wolf into the top player from the other team and make Red the quarterback from your own team. Or, name the witch in Snow White after a rival player and cast a cheerleader as the princess. Each of the dwarfs in the story are actual football players from your own team.
Competing School Skits
-
Poke fun at the opposing team by holding a skit built around tryouts for the rival team. Give each person trying out a goofy name, like Klutzy Kelly. Have the players drop the ball, trip over their own feet and make other basic goofs on the field. Ask the kids to play up the mistakes, making it seem like they can barely carry a ball, let alone play football. At the end of the skit, award each participant a spot on the opposing team.
