How to Add Names to Sports Jerseys
Adding nameplates to the back of a team's jerseys is a great way to give the players that extra feeling of importance when they see their own name, and not just a number, on their uniform. Adding nameplates is easy for anyone familiar with a sewing machine, or a needle and thread.
Things You'll Need
- Thread the color of the jerseys and the desired name color
- Fabric to match the jersey and desired name color
- Fabric shears
- Sewing machine or needle
- Stencil letters kit

Trace the letters for the name you wish to add to the jersey onto a piece of name-colored fabric.

Cut out the letters.

Arrange the letters on the jersey-colored fabric and cut a rectangle large enough for a half-inch of space on all sides of the name.

Thread the needle or sewing machine with the name-colored thread.

Sew the name onto the nameplate, centered with a half-inch of space on all sides.

Thread the needle or sewing machine with the jersey-colored thread.

Sew the nameplate onto the back of the jersey about an inch below the neckline, centered across the shoulders.
