How to Remove Lubricant for a Nordic Track Drive Roller

Ed Pauls invented the Nordic Track in 1975 so he could practice cross-country skiing indoors. Twelve years later, Nordic Track had become one of the largest exercise equipment companies in the United States. Nordic Track owners must lubricate key parts to keep the machine functioning properly, but if they accidentally lubricate the drive rollers, the machine could malfunction and cause injury. When this happens, owners must remove lubricant from the Nordic Track drive roller to ensure their safety.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 1 tbsp. of concentrated degreaser into a bucket. Add 1 gallon of hot water. Set aside.

    • 2

Remove the skis from the Nordic Track. Unfold the upper arm bar and lay the machine on either the left or right side.

    • 3

Remove the 4 flange nuts from the carriage bolts on the wooden side board of the Nordic Track with the crescent wrench. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the 2 wood screws.

    • 4

Lift the sideboard off the Nordic Track but leave the flywheel in place. Slide the resistance belt to the side and carefully remove the drive rollers from the flywheel.

    • 5

Soak the drive rollers in the bucket for 5 minutes. Wipe clean with a towel and allow to air dry. If rollers still feel greasy, pour a small amount of concentrated degreaser onto the towel and scrub the drive rollers. Rinse thoroughly under warm water and allow to air dry.
