How to Troubleshoot a Horizon H Series R3

The Horizon R3 is a recumbent exercise bike for in-home use. It offers 10 levels of magnetic brake resistance that you adjust using the quick-set buttons on the console. The console has 14 preset workout programs and it displays information about your workout, such as speed, resistance level, time and distance. If you have problems with the resistance or the console, save yourself some time by troubleshooting the problem yourself before contacting Horizon for assistance.

  1. Resistance Level Displayed Seems Too High or Low

      Check that you are using the AC adapter that was included with your R3 exercise bike. If not, order a new adapter from Horizon.

      Press and hold the "Stop" button on the console for three seconds.

      Unplug the bike from the wall. Wait 60 seconds.

      Plug the AC adapter back into the wall. Start pedaling and see if the resistance displays correctly.

    R3 Bike Squeaks

      Make sure the bike is on a level surface.

      Turn the levelers under the rear crossbar to level the bike. Twist the bottom portion of the leveler to adjust the height and twist the top portion of the leveler to lock it into place.

      Adjust the leveler under the base frame tube to make sure the bike legs are snug with the floor.

      Use a screwdriver to loosen all the bolts in the frame. Grease the bolt threads and tighten the bolts.

    The Console Doesn't Turn On

      Make sure the R3 exercise bike is plugged in using the AC adapter included with the bike.

      Remove the four screws from the bottom of the console and pull the console away from the mounting frame.

      Check the console wires. Make sure the wires are securely connected and that they are not twisted or pinched.
