How to Walk on the Balls of Your Feet

The balls of your feet are located under the front of your foot, close to your toes. Walking on the balls of your feet causes you to exert more energy than if you were to contact the ground with your heel first. When you walk on the balls of your feet, the muscles in your legs are used to support the majority of your weight rather than your leg bones in normal heel-to-toe strides.

Instructions

    • 1

Elevate your heels, so that they are off of the ground. This motion with shift all the weight to the balls of your feet.

    • 2

Lift one of your feet; contracting the muscles in your leg. Extend your foot forward away from your body and place it on the ground, while keeping your heel elevated.

    • 3

Lift up your opposite foot -- contracting your leg muscles -- and extend it forward beyond your other foot. Use your planted foot to propel your body forward during this motion.

    • 4

Repeat steps 2 and 3, until you have reached your desired destination.
