How to Find My Stride Length
The length of a person's stride is roughly proportional to his height. According to Colorado State University, if you're male, your stride measures about 0.415 of your height. If you're female, your stride measures about 0.413 of your height. But despite these general relationships, individuals' body proportions and walking styles vary greatly. To accurately determine the length of your stride, you have to measure it. Calculate the average of several strides so no one anomalous step throws off your result.

Instructions

-
1
Identify a starting location on the floor (or a sidewalk) that you can easily find again. If you see none, mark one with chalk.
-
2
Stand at the location you found, placing both of your heels on the marked spot.
-
3
Take 10 steps forward, starting with your right foot and walking at your normal pace.
-
4
Stop. Mark your left heel's final location with chalk.
-
5
Measure the distance between your starting and finishing points in inches.
-
6
Divide this distance by 10. For instance, if you walked 300 inches, 300 divided by 10 equals 30 inches, or 2 feet 6 inches per stride.
