How to Remove the Ejector on an MP5

The MP5 is a submachine gun developed in the mid 1960s by Heckler & Koch. The weapon fires a 9 mm round and several variants are available including those with single fire, fully automatic, and two or three-round burst capability. The MP5 is used primarily by select military forces and law enforcement for close-quarter tactical combat. As with all weapons, periodic maintenance or repair may be required from time to time.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the magazine. Pull the charging handle to the rear. Visually inspect the chamber to ensure that no live ammunition is present.

    • 2

Remove the buttstock take-down pin using a 3/4 allen key. This pin is located above the grip, directly across from the selector switch on the left side of the buttstock. Pull off the buttstock.

    • 3

Pull down on the grip to remove the grip assembly from the weapon frame. The grip assembly contains the trigger assembly and ejector.

    • 4

Look in the top of the trigger assembly. Locate the selector lever. This is a small protruding lever adjacent to the trigger spring and guide. Press the lever down and hold.

    • 5

Rotate the selector switch counterclockwise until the lever handle is pointing at 12 o'clock and you hear a click. Pull the left side selector switch out first, then pull the right side selector switch out.

    • 6

Pull the trigger assembly out of the grip assembly. Set the trigger assembly so that the left side is facing towards you. Locate the pivot pin/ejector lever axle. This is the round pin at the top center of the trigger assembly as you look at it on the left side.

Insert a cleaning rod or slotted screwdriver inside the trigger assembly, behind the pivot pin/ ejector lever axle. Place your finger on the rear of the ejector lever to keep it from popping out. Push the pivot pin/ejector lever axle from the inside out, toward you. Pull out the ejector lever.
