1
Choose the trainer that fits your biking style and the level of workout you desire. Some trainers have a free-rolling wheel in back. Others provide an adjustable level of resistance to increase the intensity of your workout.

2
Mount the bike to the trainer. Lift the back tire of the bike on to the rolling wheel of the trainer. Mount the rear axle of the wheel into the axle mount and lock the bike in place with the quick-release clamp. If your trainer does not have a quick-release mount, you will need a wrench to tighten the wheel to the trainer.

3
Ride your bike. Carefully mount the bike and adjust your weight to get used to balancing on the bike in a fixed position. Pedal slowly while looking at your back tire. Make sure it is rolling correctly and there are no rattling or squeaking parts. If a part requires attention, get off the bike and lubricate or adjust the tension on the wheel and re-test the trainer.
