The Central Cycle Club has a private motocross track in Central Village that's open only to members year-round. The track is groomed and watered and all engine sizes are allowed. To apply for membership, you must first earn points as a volunteer in addition to working two races.

Connecticut River Motocross

This private trail by the Connecticut River is in a 45-acre motocross park. Trail features include groomed tabletop, double and triple jumps. In one corner of the property, there's also a children's mini-track. This trail is open on weekends and Tuesday through Thursday between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Pachaug State Forest

In this Voluntown state park, you'll find 58 miles of public trails on 24,000 acres. Dirt bikes, horses, snowmobiles and hikers share this space, which is open all year. In winter, you can ride your snowmobile on the forest roads and motocross trails. To get to the starting point, take Route 49.

Cockaponset State Forest

In Cockaponset, you can snowmobile in two different public areas: Turkey Hill Block in the town of Haddam and at Cedar Swamp Block in Chester. At Cedar Swamp, there are six miles of unplowed trail wide enough for a two-way road. From the starting point, the trail runs north and east through mountain laurel. The trails in Turkey Hill are also two-way and you can get to them either from route 154 or 148. The paths run through both evergreen and deciduous growth and give you views of Turkey Hill and Pataconk Reservoirs.
