How to Aim When Using a Bow & Arrow

A bow and arrow is a weapon used for hunting or recreational purposes. The bow portion is normally a curved metal or fiberglass rod that has a bow string running between both ends. To fire, a shooter must place the back of their arrow onto the wire and release once enough tension has built up. Beware though: Nothing ruins a day of shooting quicker than bad aim. With a steady hand and a good eye, you can nail more of your targets than ever before.

Instructions

    • 1

Set your feet up perpendicular to your target. Assume an athletic position with your knees slightly bent. Draw the bowstring back using your index, middle and ring fingers on your dominant hand.

    • 2

Line up your sight pin with the middle of your target. Keep the sight pin as near to the target as possible. Move the sight pin in small circles around the target if you have difficulty keeping a steady hand. Take a deep breath and prepare yourself for your shot.

    • 3

Fire your shot by letting go of the string once you pulled the proper tension. Allowing the bowstring to run off the edge of your fingers. Keep the bow steady with your off-hand and hold your position until you've hit your target.
