Larue Handguard Lt15-7 Instructions

The Larue LT15-7 is a replacement, 7-inch handguard that provides enhanced grip for the barrel of AR-15 style tactical rifles. The unit is machined out of solid aluminum, and weighs just .742 pounds. A proprietary, two-pin barrel-nut securing system -- and anti-slip plate -- locks the guard in place. Double-sling swivel sockets are integrated into the design for attachment of two-point slings. The LT15-7 also functions as a heat sink for the chamber area, reducing throat-damaging temperatures and gas-pressure spikes.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify that the firearm is unloaded.

    • 3

Remove the existing handguard, the flash suppression muzzle and the front-sight base.

    • 4

    • 5

Slide the handguard-keeper assembly over the end of the barrel, and into place against the receiver.

    • 6

Slip the handguard nut on the barrel, followed by the barrel nut. Coat the threads of the receiver with molybdenum grease, and then tighten the barrel nut with the AR-15 armorer's wrench. Torque to 35 foot-pounds, making sure one of the gas tube-holes aligns with the hole in the receiver when it is tight.

    • 7

Install the spacer in the rear of the replacement handguard float-tube. Slip the float tube over the barrel, and down to the receiver. Mate the float-tube locating pins with corresponding holes in the barrel nut. Tighten the handguard nut with the strap wrench.

Coat the Allen screws with supplied thread-locking compound. Install the screws in the keeper holes on each side of the handguard. Tighten with the Allen wrench.
