How to Attach a Medium Alice Pack to a Molle Rucksack

The United States military issues the Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment, called the MOLLE, to its soldiers. The MOLLE gear is the update to the former All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment, called the ALICE packs. These systems are both modular in design, meaning packs and accessories are easily added to the main vest or pack. Both systems use the same plastic and nylon attachment clips, so the parts are somewhat transferable. Attaching an ALICE pack part to the MOLLE medium rucksack is possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the MOLLE pack and ALICE pack out on a flat bench or surface. Turn both packs over to find the plastic clips used to attach the modular pieces. The MOLLE pack will have a series or male and female ends to the clips, designed to marry together. Look for the same style of clips on the ALICE pack and find the male and female ends.

    • 2

Place the ALICE pack on the back of the MOLLE pack and align the female ends of the ALICE clips to the male ends of the MOLLE pack. Clip them together.

    • 3

Align the male clips on the ALICE pack to the female clips on the MOLLE pack. Make sure to use the side clips on both packs, and not those found under or on the top of the packs.

Pull the nylon straps attached to the clips backwards to tighten and snug the packs together, creating a double storage sack. Because the main pack is the MOLLE, you need the MOLLE vest to attach the combined pack so it may be worn over the shoulders.
