How to Frame an Autographed Football Jersey

You've met your favorite sports legend and he signed your jersey; now you must protect it. Show off and keep your jersey safe, stain-free and looking new by framing it in a shallow shadow box. Shadow boxes are found in most craft stores and come already assembled, waiting for your treasures. In no time at all, you can proudly show off while protecting this valuable piece of history in your own living room or man cave.

  • Mat board
  • Foam backing board
  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Hanging wire

      Measure your jersey and write down or remember the dimensions so you get the correct size shadow box to frame it.

      Hold the jersey to the mat board and place the foam backing board beneath it. Keep the jersey completely flat and folded to your specifications, then stitch the jersey to the mat board with invisible thread similar to fishing line. Use a few stitches at the top and bottom corners, as well as at the top and bottom of the jersey to secure it to the board.

      Close the shadow box, ensuring that the glass is not touching the jersey. If the glass is pressed up against the jersey it will cause moisture and the fabric will mold.

      Attach the hanging wire to the back of the shadow box according to the directions. Using a screwdriver, insert a screw into the wall where the jersey is to be placed and then hang the jersey up for safe viewing.
