How to Install Muzzy MX-3 Broadheads

The Muzzy MX-3 is a three-blade broadhead designed for the fast-flight arrows used with compound bows. The blades are also compatible with recurve bow designs, but at 100-grains, the broadhead is a common choice for big game hunting with a fast compound bow. The installation process is simple with the Muzzy MX-3, but you must properly fix all of the blades and tightly fasten the broadhead to the arrow. Check all of your connections before hunting to ensure that the blades are tight and the broadhead has not loosened from the arrow shaft.

      Remove the broadhead stem from the packaging. The stem has three grooves along the body and a rounded design. Set the stem on a flat surface to prevent it from rolling away.

      Open and carefully remove three of the broadhead blades from the package. The original package includes nine extremely sharp blades. Grab the dull side of each blade to prevent a cut and set the three blades next to the stem.

      Grab one of the blades and align the wide base section of the blade on top of one of the stem grooves. Insert the base in the groove and slide it down the groove until it seats in place. Repeat the process for the additional two grooves on the stem. Push the tip on top of the stem to lock the blades in place.

      Screw the threaded base of the stem into the end of an arrow shaft. Make the first three turns to ensure that the broadhead is connected to the shaft. Place the broadhead wrench over the blades and continue turning until the broadhead is completely tightened to the arrow.

      Apply a small amount of pressure to each of the blades with your finger. Add pressure to the tip with the wrench if the blades are not tight against the stem. Each of the blades must lock into a permanent position when the stem is screwed onto the arrow shaft.
