Basketball Training Camps in Pennsylvania

Basketball, like other sports, requires numerous hours of practice to master. Players must learn a variety of skills that include playing effective defense, shooting and rebounding. To hone these skills, young players can participate in summer camps. These camps are available to children of various ages to help them learn and improve their basketball technique while participating in other sports. Pennsylvania has summer programs for developing players.

  1. International Sports Training Camp

    • International Sports Training Camp is a basketball summer camp program for children that is located in the Pocono Mountains area. In this program, children of ages 8 to 16 years old learn a number of basketball skills, including ball handling, rebounding and foul shooting. Three sessions are available each day. Students are given the opportunity to learn from college coach guest speakers and participate in afternoon tournaments. To go along with the training in basketball, youths can participate in other activities such as rock climbing and learning the trapeze. At the end of the camp, students are given report cards that chronicle their development.

    US Sports Institute

    • The US Sports Institute offers summer basketball camps in many states, including Pennsylvania. The camps use a number of drills and completions to help participants learn and develop their basketball skills. Small class sizes cover different situations that players face while playing actual games. Sessions focus on such skills as ball handling, passing and shooting under pressure. During the last week of the camp, students demonstrate what they have learned by taking part in a tournament. The age group for participation is 5 to 14 years old. The camp is open for one week, with class sessions offered both day and night. The time and cost of the camp differ, depending on the location your child uses. All equipment is provided by the camp.

    Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Camps

    • The Philadelphia 76ers organization hosts basketball camps for individuals to learn basic skills from the stars of the team. Boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17 years old and any experience level are allowed to participate. Overnight, one-on-one, and day camp sessions are available. Children are given the opportunity to participate in other activities that include swimming, boating and volleyball. The camps are located at various sites throughout the state of Pennsylvania, and campers from over 40 states and 40 countries have attended.
