The Erie Youth Hockey Association offers the Rick Gotkin Laker Hockey School every summer, conducted at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. This is a six-day program for hockey players from age five to 18, featuring a coach-to-student ratio of one to seven. Athletes who participate in this program refine their skating and passing skills, improve their puck handling and shooting, learn defensive maneuvers, understand how to acceptably check other players and focus on teamwork. Each day includes 2 1/2 hours of on-ice time. At the end of the six-day camp, camp concludes with an hour-long scrimmage. Each participant in the program receives a jersey and a certificate of completion.

Mercyhurst College

Mercyhurst College offers Mike Sisti's Elite Developmental Hockey Camp for Girls. Every athlete who attends the camp is on the ice for three hours each day and receives a total of 20 hours of training. This camp focuses on increasing the athletes' skills so they can become more competitive. Training sessions are designed to improve skating ability, specifically, power, speed and control, develop individual skills, like passing, stick work and puck handling as well as to improve an athlete's ability to work in a team. In addition to the on-ice activities, the camp includes lessons on strengthening and conditioning and offers video analysis.

Ice Center of Erie

The Ice Center of Erie is home to three different summer hockey camps. The power skating and stick-handling camp lasts for three days and provides attending athletes with 1 1/2 hours of on-ice time each day. This camp is designed to increase athletes' skating agility, speed and efficiency. Participants also learn puck handling techniques from the United States and Europe.
The goalkeeping clinic provides athletes with five days of instruction and a total of 15 hours on-ice time. Goalies will learn the footwork needed to block goals, defensive posturing and common game situations that require fast thinking. Video analysis is incorporated to ensure that participants have the opportunity to view their areas for improvement.
The Kids' Clinic with the Pros is a unique three-day camp for nine- to 13-year-olds. In this camp, professional hockey players teach the participants different drills and techniques. Participating child athletes play in scrimmages and receive a total of 12 hours on-ice time. At the end of the camp, participants receive hockey jerseys and water bottles.
