Diamondback Insight Instructions

Diamondback Bicycles produces a variety of bicycles for road, triathlon, mountain and hybrid riding, including the Insight. The Insight is designed for city and beach riding; Shimano Alivio Rapid Fire shifters control the gear movements via the front and rear Alivio derailleurs. Rim brakes control the Insight's speed. The Insight is in the hybrid category of bicycles, combing aspects of road and mountain bicycling.

Instructions

Stand over the bicycle and check the seat level. You should have to stand on your toes and slide your bottom up and onto the seat, rather than have the seat at bottom level. If the seat is too low, loosen the hex screw at the seat stem and pull the seat up to just above your bottom. If the seat is too high, push it down. Tighten the hex screw once the seat is adjusted.

Put on your helmet and begin pedaling. Place your right forefinger onto the Rapid Fire shifter lever and pull in to decrease the gear on the rear cog. Click the shifter again to decrease one more gear. To go through the gears going down, continue to click the lever with the forefinger. To shift up in gears, push the lever next to your right thumb.

Click the left hand gear lever with the left hand forefinger to increase one full chain ring. Click the thumb lever to decrease one full chain ring.

Squeeze the right-hand brake lever to engage the rear brake. Use the right hand brake to control speed and for general use. Gently squeeze the left hand brake lever to stop the bicycle after the rear brake slows the bicycle. The front brake is more powerful; gripping too hard may result you flying over the handlebars.
