How to Put Together the CycleOps Mag Trainer

The CycleOps Mag trainer is a device that allows for stationary operation of a bicycle. The trainer consists of a heavy-duty metal base with two folding legs and a resistance unit. A bolt-action tube on the side of the CycleOps Mag trainer secures the rear bicycle axle to the trainer, allowing for safe and effective operation. Stationary bicycle trainers are popular with cyclists and exercise enthusiasts looking to improve or maintain fitness. Parts included with the Mag trainer include a bolt-action tube, quick release handle, carriage bolt and nut and L-bolt.

Instructions

    • 1

Unfold each leg of the CycleOps Mag trainer, and set the trainer on an even floor. For uneven floors, unscrew one or both of the trainer leg foot pads to steady the trainer.

    • 2

Align the holes on each side of the resistance unit with the holes in the sides of the trainer frame mounting bracket. The mounting bracket is found at the bottom of the rear of the Mag trainer frame.

    • 3

Slide the carriage bolt through the left-side mounting bracket hole. The carriage bolt is threaded and is used to secure the resistance unit to the frame of the trainer. Push the carriage bolt in as far as it will go.

    • 4

Thread the carriage bolt nut onto the end of the carriage bolt. Tighten the nut by hand.

    • 5

Pass the non-threaded end of the L-bolt through the right side of the sleeve atop the resistance unit mounting bracket.

    • 6

Lift the resistance unit and align the hole inside the unit with the threaded end of the L-bolt.

    • 7

Turn the resistance unit dial clockwise to join the L-bolt to the resistance unit.

    • 8

Slide the tapered end of the bolt-action tube through the bracket in the top right side of the CycleOps Mag trainer.

    • 9

Insert the bolt release handle through the slot at the top of the bracket. Screw the handle into the middle hole in the bolt-action tube.
