How to Buy a Disc Golf Driver
Instructions
-
-
1
Get a disc with a sharp edge. A driver disc should have an edge which recedes down to a fine point, which will help it move through the air more easily and travel for a farther distance.
-
2
Look for a disc with more mass around the outside of the disc. Weight and mass inside the disc increase the accuracy of throws and weight and mass around the outside decreases accuracy but improves distance. Because you want distance and not necessarily accuracy in a driver, you'll want a disc with weight around the outside.

3
Know the basic types of drivers. Most golf disc manufacturers divide drivers into two or three categories. Long or fairway drivers travel farther than mid-range discs, but not as far as extra long or distance drivers. The longer the range of the disc, the less accurate the disc will be.
-
4
Start with a fairway or long range driver. Disc golf beginners should first buy a more accurate, shorter range driver and work their way up to maximum distance drivers when they acquire more skill. Maximum distance drivers provide a lot of distance, but take a fine touch to keep on the course.
-
5
Evaluate the weight of the disc. Beginners typically start with a driver which weighs 150g. More experienced disc golf players move up to drivers weighing 180g. The Professional Disc Golf Association prohibits discs weighting more than 200g.

6
Find disc golf drivers at local sports goods stores or online. Online, the Disc Golf Store website has a large selection of drivers.
