How to Buy a Disc Golf Putter

1
See what the distance rating of the disc is. Most putters are rated according to how far they are meant to travel accurately. Look on the product packaging for either a distance or a 1 to 10 rating scale.
-
2
Notice the edge of the disc. Disc golf putters come with different types of edges from flat to somewhat sharp. The flatter the edge, the less distance the putter will travel, but the more accurate you'll be able to throw it.
-
3
Look the putter over to see where the weight is distributed. While some putters have their weight evenly distributed throughout the disc, some have their weight concentrated the middle. The discs with the weight in the middle are highly accurate, but meant for especially short-range shots. If you plan to buy only one putter, go with one which has an even weight distribution.
-
4
Get a large putter if you're a beginner. The larger the diameter of the putter, the more accurate and predicable the throw will be. Smaller discs are meant for advanced players.
-
5
Consider a disc which floats. If you play on disc golf courses which contain water hazards, buy a disc which specifically mentions buoyancy as a feature. While most discs are made of plastic, the weighting can cause some discs to sink.
-
6
Evaluate the grip of the disc. Many putters feature grip enhancements, such as dimples, which can improve accuracy. Just make sure the grip is a good fit for your hand.
-
7
Find disc golf putters at local sporting good stores or online. The Disc Golf Store is a website which specializes in disc golf equipment and has many putters to choose from.
