How to Apply Letters to a Football Jersey
Typically, youth football league, junior varsity and varsity football teams don't include player names on the backs of jerseys. If it doesn't violate youth league or school rules, add names to the back of a jersey with a silkscreen letter kit. Silkscreen letter kits are available at clothing and sporting goods apparel shops and vary in cost. It takes between an hour to two hours to add a name to the back of a football jersey.

1
Place the football jersey on the ironing board with the back area where the name letters will be placed facing up. Smooth the jersey out so that it's flat and even and has no creases or wrinkles in it.
-
2
Evenly place the letters across the top back section of the jersey. Use a ruler to evenly line up the letters. When laying the letters out, keep about an inch distance apart between each letter.

3
Plug in the iron and allow it to heat up on one of the lower settings.

4
Press the iron down on the first letter and hold it down for around five seconds. Once the letter is ironed on, move to the next letter in the name until all the letters have been attached to the football jersey.
