How to Take Your Cracked Lacrosse Head Off of Your Shaft

Lacrosse is an intense sport and sometimes a lacrosse stick’s head can get cracked during game play. Although the head of the lacrosse stick is not held together by a screw, it can sometimes be quite difficult to remove. There are five basic methods of removal. Your individual stick and personal strength will determine which method will be most effective for you.

Instructions

Place the head on the ground facing away from you with the shaft pointing straight up. Place your heel into the head and pull with your arms while planting the head on the ground with your foot. This method is referred to as the “Heel Grip.”

Place the head on the ground facing toward you with the shaft pointing straight up. Place your toe into the head and pull with your arms while planting the head on the ground with your foot. This method is referred to as the “Toe Grip.”

    • 3

Sit down on a bench and extend your feet out in front of you. Place the stick between your legs and place one foot on either side of the stick resting on the head. Pull the stick while keeping the head secured on the ground with your feet. This method is referred to as the “Two Foot Pinch.”

    • 4

Sit down on a bench and place the stick sticking straight up in between your thighs. Hold it in place with your thighs and pull the stick with your hands. This method is referred to as the "Thigh Buster."

    • 5

Place the part of the lacrosse stick where the shaft meets the head under hot running water for about one minute and then under cold running water for about one minute. Then try to wiggle the two parts apart. Repeat if necessary.
