MTPCA: Convention and Contest

The Michigan Trappers and Predator Callers Association (MTPCA) hosts annual events for trapping enthusiasts. Their August convention has trapping demonstrations, dealer presentations and children's events; in 2011, it will be held August 19 through August 21. In addition, the MTPCA also held its first annual predator calling and trapping contest in February, 2011.
U.P. Trappers Association

The U.P. (Upper Peninsula) Trappers Association hosts an annual trappers workshop (in 2011, it was held February 5) to introduce children and adults to trapping. The workshop offers trapping supplies for sale; a trapping demonstration just for children and fur demonstrations. The young trappers also receive starter trapping supplies.
Trapper Associations

The objectives of the Michigan Trappers & Predator Callers Association cover conservation, education and protecting the right to harvest surplus fur-bearing animals. The Association also helps the Michigan Department of Natural Resources manage wildlife populations. The MTPCA offers youth and adult memberships.
The U.P. Trappers Association promotes trapper practices, education and wildlife management through its workshops, annual convention, fair booths, fur pickups and state level representation. This Association offers junior and adult memberships.
Michigan Educational Resources

Michigan's Department of Natural Resources and Education, in cooperation with state-wide trapping organizations, developed a voluntary trapper education program. This program offers occasional trapper education classes and includes an extensive downloadable manual, the Michigan Trapper Education Manual: A Guide for Trappers in Michigan. This manual covers responsible trapping, regulations and trapping equipment.
