How to Heat Your Rossignol Downhill Ski Boots With a Thermo-Adjustable Fit

Rossignol makes a range of ski boots in addition to skis and bindings. As a system, each piece of Rossignol gear is made to intermesh with another piece. Most Rossignol downhill ski boots are equipped with Thermofit liners. These liners are made of high-tech foam that expands and contracts upon heating, allowing it to conform and mold to your foot. If you do not have the luxury of living near a ski shop and want your liners molded, use the ski industry standard method.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull the liners out of the boots and pull out the Thermofit tongues. The tongues are attached to the liners, but should be pulled out and down during the liner heating process. Set your oven to "convection" and preheat it to 275 Fahrenheit.

    • 2

Cover a flat sheet with foil. Place the liners on the sheet, and, when the oven is preheated, put them into the oven on the sheet. Let them "cook" for approximately 8 to 12 minutes. Check back every few minutes and check them for expansion. When the liners look "bloated" they are ready for molding.

    • 3

Wear the ski socks you normally wear during your ski outings. If you use footbeds or orthotics, place them onto the base of the foot with the socks then step into the hot liners. Pull the tongues up around the liners at your calves.

    • 4

Stand still, preferably with a knee bend as if you are skiing, for 20 minutes to let the foam shrink around your feet and calves.

    • 5

Step into the boot shells after 20 minutes and buckle them up. Stand in the boot shells for another 20 minutes to allow the exterior of the liners to mold into the boot shells.
