Hold the ski in front of you with one end on the floor. A good length will hit between your chin and forehead.

Choose a ski that is closer to your chin if you are a beginner or intermediate skier. Shorter skis work better for people that are considered light for their height. Short and quick turns are easier to make with short skis.

Select a ski closer to your forehead if you are aggressive and like to ski fast. Long skis work better for people who are heavier than average for their height. Off trail skiing is another reason to purchase longer skis.
