How to Fill a Hole in Snowboard Boots

Snowboard boots serve two key functions: locking you into your snowboard so that you can effectively control it and keeping your feet warm and dry. If you have a hole in the sole of your boot, it won't be very effective at that second duty. Fix the hole as soon as possible to prevent your boots from breaking down even worse.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper towel or rag
  • Shoe repair glue and sealant (such as Shoe Goo or McNett Freesole)
  • Fine sandpaper
  • Popsicle stick

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the hole. If the boot is just soaking through and there is no apparent hole, you may just be able to use a re-waterproofing treatment like Nikwax to revitalize the waterproofing.

    • 2

Clean the area around the hole. Use a wet paper towel to wipe the sole over and around the hole clean. If the boots are particularly muddy, use a boot cleaning brush or old toothbrush to clean them more thoroughly. If the dirt is caked on, soak them for an hour or two in a shallow pan or bucket of water, then clean them.

    • 3

Dry the boots. Wipe the boots dry with a rag, allow to dry in the sun.

    • 4

Use a fine sandpaper to rough up the area around the hole. Some shoe repair adhesives come with their own file or abrasive for this purpose.

    • 5

Squeeze a small amount of shoe repair adhesive onto the hole. Use a Popsicle stick or included applicator to rub it smooth so that it fully covers the hole.

    • 6

Allow the boot to dry for two days. Do not snowboard on it until it is dry or you risk undoing the repair.
