How to Adjust a Highback Snowboard

When a snowboard's bindings are equipped with highback heel and ankle support, they can be adjusted for various riding styles and angles. While each binding maker uses its own system of straps, ratchets and buttons, the process to adjust the highback depends on each person's riding style and ability. Be sure to get your highback adjusted to your style to maximize the ride and keep you safe.

Instructions

    • 1

Step into the bindings in your boots. If using a step-in binding, insert your toes first, to clip the binding to the boot. If using strap bindings, attach the toe and ankle straps.

    • 2

Insert the hex wrench or the dedicated binding tool, depending on the binding itself, and turn the tool counterclockwise to raise the highback and reduce the angle of the stance. If you ride for speed and wide arc turns, keep the angle of the highback closer to upright.

    • 3

Turn the tool clockwise to lower the angle of the highback. Use a lower angle for aggressive turns, pipes and terrain park riding.

    • 4

Attach the top strap of the binding after the highback angle is to your liking. Tighten the calf strap, and head out for a ride. Ride a mellow slope to ensure you like the angle of the highback, before hitting more advanced slopes.
