How to Adjust the Straps on Burton Custom Bindings

Burton Custom bindings are, arguably, the most reliable and sought-after bindings on the market. This model, originally Burton's premier binding, has been surpassed in price and technology by other bindings in Burton's line. However, recreational riders and competitive pros still gravitate to this iconic piece of equipment for its comfort, performance and ease of adjustability. Fitting your boot to a Custom binding takes very little time and can be done slopeside in a pinch.

Instructions

  1. Adjusting Strap Location

    • 1

Place your boot in the binding, taking care to slide the boot's heel all the way back into the heel pocket.

    • 2

Note where the toe strap hits your boot. It should land directly over your toes, but far enough from the end of your boot to prevent it from sliding off. To move the strap to the other allotted position, pop both the padded strap and the ladder strap out the bottom of the baseplate and reposition the strap's nut into the other slot.

    • 3

Note where the ankle strap comes across your boot. Make sure strap placement forms a 45-degree angle. If the angle is greater or lesser, use your screwdriver to remove the strap's screw and bolt and reposition it in one of the other two holes.

    • 4

Repeat these steps on the other binding.

    Adjusting Strap Length

    • 5

With your boot in the binding, unscrew the ankle pad bolt until it comes free.

    • 6

Slide the ankle pad out on the slider strap until the pad is positioned in the middle of your boot. Make sure to line up the pad's hole with the corresponding hole on the slider.

    • 7

Screw the ankle pad bolt into the proper hole to secure it.

    • 8

Repeat this process for the toe strap and on the other binding.
