How to Undo the Ratchet Latch on a Flow Snowboard Binding

Although Flow manufactures both snowboards and bindings, the company got its start by developing a new approach to snowboard bindings. Riders step into the back of Flow bindings, placing their feet beneath a one-piece power strap (whereas with conventional bindings a rider steps down onto a binding's baseplate and then buckles separate toe and ankle straps). To secure Flow bindings, riders pull on a lever that tightens a high tensile steel cable that connects the highback to the binding baseplate.

Instructions

  1. Fastening Flow Bindings

    • 1

Slide your foot into the one-piece power strap of the binding.

    • 2

Pull the binding's highback upright. (When unlocked, the highback has a natural reclining position.)

    • 3

Pull up on the lever located on the outside of the binding's highback. When the binding is unlocked, the top of the ratchet lever will point down towards your snowboard. After pulling up on this lever, the top of the lever will point up towards you, the rider. This lever locks the highback into place by tightening the binding's cable.

    • 4

Adjust the binding's power strap if your foot can slide around in the locked binding. This can be done by tightening the buckles that connect the power strap to the binding baseplate.

    Unfastening Flow Bindings

    • 5

Pull down on the binding's ratchet lever. The lever must be pulled down 180 degrees so that the top of the lever points down towards your snowboard. This will loosen the integrated steel cable that fastens the binding.

    • 6

Pull the highback down further if necessary.

    • 7

Slide your foot out of the binding's power strap.
