How to Set Up Snowboard Binding Straps on the Inside or Outside

How you ride typically dictates the placement of your snowboard bindings. Goofy foot style riders go right foot forward, left foot back; regular foot riders have the reverse. This makes a difference in how the bindings are placed on the board. There is a dedicated left and right binding, noted by the curve on the base, like a shoe. Straps are placed according to how the binding is mounted to the board, which again, is determined by riding styles.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the snowboard on the ground and stand on it, without bindings, to determine your stance. Mark the pre-drilled screw holes to show where your feet rest, indicating where the binding is mounted. Be sure to notate the left foot from the right.

    • 2

Place the bindings onto the board and line up the screw holes on the board (where marked) to the bindings. Once again, make sure you match the right foot binding to the right foot marker, and left to left.

    • 3

Screw the bindings as tight as you can to the snowboard. The snowboard is now mounted with bindings.

    • 4

Step into your boots and step into the bindings. The straps on the snowboard bindings start on the inside of the binding and wrap to the outside.

    • 5

Unscrew the binding straps and remove from the bindings. Screw the right-side straps to the left-side binding, and the left-side straps to the right-side binding, to reverse the straps to the outside.
