Wisconsin Soccer Clubs

Wisconsin is known as the land of badgers, cheese and scenic woodlands, but the the Midwestern state is also home to a wealth of soccer clubs. From traditional to futsol, from co-ed to girls, the state is rich in soccer recreation. There are also many adult leagues and traveling teams.
  1. Youth leagues

    • The state of Wisconsin has a very organized and diverse youth soccer system, through its Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association. Recreational and highly competitive leagues for girls and boys ages 5 to 18 are available. Organized club programs play in the large cities that run independent and concurrent with the association.

The Milwaukee Kickers, a youth-centered organization has over 6,000 participants in 12 regions of the greater Milwaukee area. Within the club are elite teams for youth players, as well as all-inclusive leagues throughout the city. Elite tryouts are normally held in June.

Green Bay also has a great youth system, through its Strikers Soccer club. Registration is held through August for boys aged 5 to 13 and girls aged 5 to 14. The state finals are held every October.

    Adult Leagues

    • The state has one of the oldest recognized adult recreation and competitive soccer leagues in the country, run by the Wisconsin Adult Soccer Association. The roots of the association xan be traced back to 1913, when three teams formed the state's first league.

Leagues run for both women and men year round and can be found all over the state. The more competitive teams play in National Cup competitions, such as the National Amateur Cup. The draw for that competition is held in October.

There are also smaller organized leagues held throughout the state, that put together rec and pickup games.

One team in particular is the Milwaukee Sport Club, which participates in the Men's Major Division.

    Indoor, Futsol and Beach Leagues

    • When the weather turns cold in the North, soccer moves indoors in Wisconsin. There are indoor winter leagues held across the state. Indoor Soccer is played every year in January in Oshkosh as part of the Badger State Games. The Brookfield Indoor Soccer Complex has registration for indoor play beginning in later summer and soccer is being played in "The Valley" in Appleton at Soccer Heaven and Sports Center.

Wisconsin also has highly organized Futsol play for children and adults through Wisconsin Futsal, which is five-a-side indoor soccer. Teams in the league compete for a state championship and can play in national tournaments.

For summer play, a beach soccer league is played in Milwaukee, the Bradford Beach Soccer League. Some of the clubs that participate are Jurassic Ji-Sung Park and La Bandita.
