How to Set Up a Triathlon Transition Station

Most triathlons include timed swimming, biking and running. While it's important to complete each of the events quickly, it's equally important to minimize your transition times--the time you spend getting ready for the next event. Instructions

    • 1

Set up a station for your biking and running gear. Swimming is usually the first event in a triathlon, so you will wear your swimming gear first and will not have to organize it at your transition station.

    • 2

Place your bicycle in the bike rack. Place the helmet on the bike with the strap undone. Make sure you attach one or two water bottles and your bicycle maintenance pack to your bike.

    • 3

Lay a towel on the ground next to your bicycle. If you have bike shoes, place them on the towel with the laces undone. Place your second towel here so you can use it to dry off after your swim.

    • 4

Undo the laces on your running shoes and place them on the towel. Next to the shoes, place your running belt, which will have your number attached to it.

    • 5

Remember to place some energy gel on the towel and to bring it with you for the bike ride and run.
