How to Use the Ironman Hydration Bottle

For triathletes, the Ironman represents the epitome of the sport. An Ironman race consists of a 2.2-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and a final 26.2-mile marathon run. This discipline is one for hearty athletes dedicated to the sport and training. The sport also requires a hydration source to keep the body well flushed with fluids. Ironman, the official sanctioning agency that runs the Ironman races, produces a series of gear for the triathlete. Included among these products are a range of hydration packs and bottles.

Instructions

  1. Bicycle Water Bottles

    • 1

Unscrew the Ironman hydration bottle cap and fill the bottle with your liquid choice. Screw the cap back on and push the straw down into the cap so it is approximately 1/2-inch off the bottom of the bottle.

    • 2

Push the hydration bottle in between the two arms on the aero bars in the center of the triathlon bicycle handlebars. The Ironman water bottles have a recessed collar designed to fit in between the aero bars.

    • 3

Sit on the bicycle and get into your aero position. Pull up and bend the straw so it is easily reached with your mouth during the ride. Sip as needed.

    Hand Water Bottles

    • 4

Unzip the small mesh pocket on the side of the water bottle holder-holster and fill with gel packs or energy snacks. If training, place car keys or ID into the holster pocket.

    • 5

Fill the water bottle with the fluid of your choice. Grip the bottle so your hand curves around the bottle under the holster grip.

    • 6

Pull the nipple on the cap up with your teeth during the run, sip as much fluid as needed and then push the nipple down to prevent spills while running.
