Wrestling Decoration Ideas for Motel Room Doors

Names

• Spell out the names or initials of the wrestlers assigned to each room so the wrestlers know where to go and their teammates can easily find them. Use the names of wrestling moves that correspond with the initials of the wrestlers if you don't want to actually spell out the wrestlers' names on the door. For example, use "banana split" for a wrestler named Bobby or a "half nelson" for Harry.

• Draw or print out images to hang on each door. The images can be of actual meets featuring the wrestlers who are staying in the room or images of various wrestling moves. Blow up images of gold wrestling medals with the weight classes of the wrestlers in each room as motivation and to identify the occupants of the room. • Foil, balloons and ribbon in the team colors is a simple way to decorate each door. Use a distinctive image or color scheme for the wrestlers to keep track of who belongs in which room. For example, use all red balloons for one door, black for the second and white for the third if the three colors are their school colors. Alternatively, hang a single motivational word on each door that spells out the team's philosophy or chant.

Contest

• Hold a contest to see which group of team members can come up with the best decorations using certain items. Each team could get the same items, a bag of various items or whatever they have available in their motel rooms. For example, the kids can use their headgear or the laces from their wrestling boots to spell out the team name. Alternatively, the wrestlers could tape their laces to the door in the shape of words that spell out wrestling moves or to look like wrestling stick figures. The decorations should be temporary and not ruin the decorations or the door.
