How to Remember Cheers

Cheerleaders are an essential feature of any sporting event, whether you're in junior high or a professional league. Cheerleading squads pump up spectators, boost team spirit and represent the team or school for those who come to the game. In order to be successful with capturing the attention of the spectators, a cheerleader must learn her cheers to perform in front of a crowd. There are a variety of ways a cheerleader can learn a new dance routine or cheer before the big game.

Read over the cheer multiple times until you can recite it without looking at the paper. Since many cheers are short and rhyme, memorization is simplified. Continue to repeat the cheer multiple times throughout the days leading up to the game to reinforce the cheer, since you are more likely to forget something within the first 24 hours of memorizing, according to the Cal Poly Pomona website.

Practice in front of the mirror to get comfortable with the dance routine and cheering together. Speak each word clearly while smiling to practice for the routine in front of a crowd.

Record yourself saying your cheer and clapping within the routine. Listen to the recording continuously while you practice jumps, kicks or arm movements.
