Cheerleading Fundraising Ideas

Fundraising is an integral part of all sports teams, and cheerleading is no exception. Many companies offer stock fundraising items for various school groups, but they offer only a small profit margin for the team or squad. Creating a fundraiser that offers almost total profit is far easier than most coaches and advisors expect.
  1. Make Spirit Shakers for Cheer Team Fundraisers

    • "Spirit Shakers" cost less than $.25 each to make and can be sold for at least $1.50 at games and special events. The items are made by reusing discarded water bottles, and a little bit of creativity. The cheerleaders can save or collect water bottles, and make a handy noise maker to use on game day.

Make School Spirit Water Bottle Labels

    • The water bottles must be washed out and have the original bottle lid. Buy some computer labels from a local discount store, usually 100 to a packet for less than $10. Create a school- or team-specific spirit slogan in school colors, and include the image of the school mascot on the label. Print the labels to replace the original water bottle label. Purchase cheap bags of plastic beads in school colors. Baking clay beads and spray-painting them also is a money saver. Put a couple dozen beads inside the water bottle.

Add Ribbons and Spray Paint the Bottle Cap

    • Cut and tie a couple of small ribbons in school colors around the neck of the bottle. The ribbon can be purchased for approximately $1 per spool at discount stores and fabric outlets. This step can be omitted, but it adds extra pizzazz to the spirit shaker. The water bottle caps can be spray painted in school colors, or left alone, if clear. Screw the dried water bottle cap onto the "Spirit Shaker" and begin earning money for the cheer team while recycling old water bottles.
