How to Create a Designer Softball Uniform

Softball uniforms often reflect some quality of the team they represent. As with any other medium, a softball uniform must be functional on the field but it must also have some style. A team of young girls, for example, might desire spandex shorts while a team of middle-age women may simply ask for comfortable material. Whatever your team wants, it is your job as the designer to meet the needs and the approval of your softball team.

Instructions

    • 1

Start with an idea. Every clothing designer, no matter whether he designs evening gowns, jeans or pajamas, starts each seasonal collection with some kind of inspiration. That inspiration might be influenced by your team; for example, if your softball team is all-female, your design might incorporate elements like the color pink or a V-neck top. If your team is named after an animal, you might design a uniform that vaguely recalls that animal.

Get out a sketchbook and pencils and sketch a few designs that you might consider for you softball uniform. Consider your designs carefully and choose one to be your final choice.

    • 3

Decide on a fabric for the softball uniforms whether it's cotton or polyester. You will have to decide what fabrics meet your team's needs. Uniforms need, at the very least, to be made of comfortable material that athletes can easily move in.

    • 4

Get out your tape measure and measure each of your team members. Each uniform made will have to correctly fit the team member assigned that uniform. Record these measurements in a notebook or on a computer so that you don't lose them.

    • 5

Commission a tailor or seamstress to create the actual uniforms. Unless you are a master with needle and thread, you will not be able to create the finished product.
