How to Change Snowboard Bindings From Regular to Goofy

Snowboarding can be a great and healthy way to spend a snowy day. But it’s important to be safe. The most essential component of snowboarding safety is to make sure your gear is properly equipped. Some boarders feel more comfortable riding with a regular stance. This means their left foot is in front of their right foot. Other riders feel more comfortable with their right foot in front. This is called goofy riding. Whichever you prefer, the most important thing is that you feel safe and comfortable. Once you figure out that a goofy stance is right for you, it’s simple to change your bindings from regular to goofy.

Place your snowboard on a worktable. Take a moment to inspect the snowboard bindings. Notice the bindings face the right side of the board. Also, pay attention to the pattern of the bindings. Common patterns include 2 by 4, 4 by 4, 3-D and channel. To avoid damage to your snowboard, you want to use the same pattern when reattaching the bindings.

Loosen and remove each mounting screw that secures the bindings to the snowboard using a screwdriver. On some snowboards, you may have to remove boot pads to get to the mounting screws. If you have to remove boot pads, set them aside in a safe area to the replaced later.

Set one binding aside while you work on the other binding. Take one of the bindings and align it with the mounting screw holes at the front of the board. Ensure that the binding is now facing the left side of the board to accommodate your right foot forward. Mount the binding to the board with the screws earlier removed.

Align the second binding to the mounting screw holes at the back of the board. Ensure that the binding is also facing the left side of the board. Mount the binding to the board with the screws earlier removed. Replace the boot pads if your snowboard uses any to cover the mounting screws.
