How to Seal Skateboard Ramp Surfaces

Sealing a skateboard ramp is the most important factor in ensuring its durability. Even surfaces like Masonite are subject to the sun and rain, and you don't want your ramp to warp and bend. There are several products on the market designed specifically for sealing skateboard ramp surfaces. One such product is Skate Paint, which works on a variety of surfaces. Whether you have a naked plywood ramp or a ramp covered in Masonite, it should work well.

Instructions

    • 1

Sand the plywood face of the ramp. Be sure to smooth out any bumps and splinters, as this will make for a smooth finished product that is not only easier to skate on, but is less painful to fall on. If you have a Masonite surface you can skip this step.

    • 2

Apply a nice even coat of Skate Paint to the surface of the ramp, using a paint roller. There is no need to mix any chemicals, because Skate Paint comes ready to apply.

    • 3

Allow 24 hours for the Skate Paint to dry. One coat should be enough, but if the surface starts to wear after a period of time you can apply a fresh coat.
